Liz Jonuska

My name is Elizabeth Jonuska, but am well known as Liz with WALH Camp. I am thrilled to have been nominated for the WALH Board. I was born and raised in Delavan, WI and currently live in Elkhorn, WI, with my daughter Alaina (12) and son Aidan (14). I have been volunteering as a nurse, for WALH, for the past 4-5 years. I am passionate about WALH, as my first job related to nursing, was working with students at UW-Whitewater with disabilities. I have been an active part of the medical world for 26 years. Initially, I was enrolled at UW Whitewater to obtain a degree in Teaching. However, during my freshman year of college, I was the primary caregiver for my grandmother. After she passed away, I was pulled towards the nursing world. I started my career as a Certified Nursing Assistant, progressed to the role of Licensed Practical Nurse, and then received an Associate’s Degree in Nursing, followed by a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing. I have been a Registered Nurse since July, 2000. My areas of experience include: Emergency Department, Intensive Care Unit, Hospice, and most recently the Cardiac Procedure Lab. I briefly dabbled in two different Nursing Leadership roles, but quickly found my passion remains as a bedside nurse, with direct care of patients. In addition to volunteering with WALH, I am also an active volunteer with the Elkhorn Area School District, Elkhorn Volleyball Club Member-at-Large, former Girl Scout Troop Leader, and previously volunteered as Camp Nurse with Inspiration Ministries in Walworth, WI. I also volunteered for several years with City of Whitewater Rescue Squad and Darien Rescue Squad, as an EMT.
